Andrew Duncan Heath

Andrew Heath was a Victorian-born tight head prop who proudly represented Australia in the early years of professional rugby. A strong and technically proficient scrummager, Heath was a graduate of Melbourne’s Scotch College, nursery of fellow Australian prop forwards Ewen McKenzie, Richard Harry and David Fitter. Heath represented Victoria on 12 occasions before he chose to move to Sydney and join the Eastern Suburbs club in order to progress his national ambitions.

In 1993, Heath made his debut for New South Wales against the ACT in Canberra however his big break did not arrive until 1996 when incumbent No.3 Ewen McKenzie broke a bone in his leg late in the second Test win against Wales. As a consequence Heath was called up to make his Test debut against Canada in Brisbane. Andrew Heath played eight tests for Australia in his two-year international career.

Selected in the AIS - Australian U21s squad.

1996

Heath won his first Test cap as the starting tight head prop in the 74-9 victory over Canada in Brisbane. He played in each of the final three Tri Nations internationals and the opening test of the Spring Tour against Italy.

1997

Heath earned his final three caps, the last of which came off the bench in the 15-15 draw with England in Twickenham.
