This week the Classic Wallabies welcomed Morgan Turinui to the team as their new General Manager, replacing Justin Harrison who was appointed CEO of the Rugby Union Players Association (RUPA).

Turinui will report to the Australian Rugby Foundation as well as the Classic Wallabies Board and be responsible for organising community initiatives across the country as well as being the main point of contact for past players.

Wallaby #782, “Morgs” played 20 Tests for Australia following his 2003 debut against Ireland in Perth and played provincially for the NSW Waratahs and Queensland Reds, before moving to France where he linked up with Stade Francais.

The former Randwick club player brings a wealth of experience in Rugby from both the players and coaching perspectives.

Turinui is a highly regarded member of the Rugby community both here in Australia and overseas.

Turinui said he was looking forward to starting his next chapter.

‘’I’m thrilled with the opportunity to continue the outstanding work done by Stephen Hoiles and Justin Harrison in supporting past Wallabies players and developing Australia’s players of the future.”

‘’The Classic Wallabies is a well-respected community who are dedicated to helping everyone from the grassroots through to the professional level, as we all have the same golden thread running through us,’’ said Turinui.

Classic Wallabies President Simon Poidevin recognised Harrison’s contribution to the committee and welcomed Turinui into the fold.

“Justin has done a fantastic job cementing the Classic Wallabies brand within the Australian Rugby landscape through matches, events and coaching clinics, particularly in regional areas and across Asia-Pacific in partnership with the Federal Government.

“Morgan’s appointment will allow the Classic Wallabies to build on the foundations laid over the last two years and evolve into an ever more represented body in the Australian sporting landscape.”
