The Classic Wallabies have partnered with the Gingercloud Foundation in support of the Modified Rugby Program to bring Australia’s most inclusive rugby event to life in the heart of sunny Brisbane at the Brothers Rugby Club in Albion.
The Modified Rugby Program (MRP) is a new, modified form of touch-only rugby, developed by GingerCloud Foundation, where each boy and girl with a learning and perceptual disability has their own club PlayerMentor on the field supporting them.
A number of MRP exhibition matches will be taking place to showcase how, through the program, children experience the sheer thrill of playing rugby, often for the very first time. The program embodies the essence of rugby, a sport which embraces inclusion and diversity. The MRP brings families and communities together who, traditionally, would not have the chance to participate in a team sport at their local club.
The main matches on the day will be the first ever Classic Wallaroos match, when they take on Brothers women in a game of 10s, followed by two teams of Classic Wallabies playing an exhibition 10’s match. Former Wallabies teammates Nathan Sharpe and Dean Mumm go head to head as opposing captains, with the likes of Lote Tuqiri, Lachie Turner, David Croft and Justin Harrison featuring in the match.
